Free Comic Book Day this Saturday at local Comic Shops
This Saturday May 6th you can get free comics at local comic shops Fanboy Comics and Memory Lane Comics.
Since 2002 Free Comic Day has celebrated the medium and its shop while creating new readers. It’s an annual event, the first Saturday every May, in which young and old readers and families can participate together. People are invited to visit a comic shop and pick up free copies of select titles published exclusively for Free Comic Day.
The event coincides each year with a newly released superhero (this year it’s the new “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie). This year’s titles include annual favorites like the Bongo Comics Free-For-All (The Simpsons) and superhero titles (Wonder Woman) but there’s many related to television and toys – Doctor Who, Rick & Morty, Riverdale, Dragonball Z, and more. There are a few special titles as well, one focusing great cartoonists and one picking on Image Comics.
For a look at the titles given away this year check out Free Comic Day.
Fanboy Comics is located on South College Road and Jake’s Memory Lane Comics at its new location at 201 Princess Street in downtown Wilmington, Each shop opens early Saturday morning and will be hosting their own events throughout the day. Fanboy will be at Mayfaire 16 cinemas for the opening of the “Guardians” movie.
