Paw Jam 2005

originally published in Avenue magazine July 2005

Located on the ground throughout Battleship Park there were many bowls of water. The Cape Fear River was rough and the cloudy sky kept the afternoon unseasonably cool. There wasn’t much barking but plenty of smiling dogs everywhere you went. Throughout the day bands played music and pet demonstrations were held.

Paw Jam was a day for dogs. The park recently held the third annual Paw Jam where people can bring their pets to socialize and run free. The benefit is geared toward raising money for the no-kill shelters for abused and stray animals and to get non-pet owners to either adopt or provide foster homes for animals.
